Vitol Foundation

The Vitol Foundation was established by the Vitol Group in 2006 to support projects that promote better living conditions for children living in deprivation. To achieve this, the Foundation actively researches and supports charity partners that work in four key areas of a child’s development: Health, Water and Sanitation (‘WASH’), Education and Livelihoods.

In 2012 the Vitol Foundation funded 257 projects with 179 different partner organisations in 66 countries.

Vitol Foundation prioritises development projects that work with communities living in extreme poverty. The foundation also allocates funds to programmes that specifically work with orphaned and vulnerable children and people living with disabilities.

In addition, Vitol Foundation responds to emergencies that result from natural disasters and human conflict. The ability to release funds almost immediately in response to a humanitarian disaster has set the Vitol Foundation apart over the years and is the reason why the foundation won Save the Children’s first ever Corporate Emergency Partner of the Year Award in 2011.

Vitol Foundation sources new charitable partners through recommendations from existing partners, other donors and experts in the field, suggestions from Vitol staff members and targeted research by the Foundation team. The Vitol Foundation does not accept unsolicited funding requests.
